Looking for a fun, fruity dessert that’s just as beautiful as it is delicious? This Upside Down
Pineapple Cake, made with ABC's Vanilla Cake Premix, is a delightful treat that’s perfect for tea
time or as a show-stopping dessert at any gathering. The best part? It’s super easy to make!
Ingredients:
ABC Vanilla Cake Premix
1 tsp cinnamon
6-7 pineapple slices (tinned)
¼ cup butter
¼ cup brown sugar (or regular sugar)
Cherries (optional, for a pop of colour)
Method:
Prepare the batter according to the instructions on ABC's Vanilla Cake Premix pack. Stir
in the cinnamon and a few chopped pineapple pieces for extra flavour.
Take a greased cake tin and line it with parchment paper. Spread a generous amount of
butter across the bottom, then sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over it.
Arrange the pineapple slices on top of the butter and sugar. If you’re using cherries,
place them in the centres of the pineapple rings for that classic look.
Pour the cake batter over the pineapples, making sure it’s spread out evenly.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out
clean.
Once baked, let the cake cool slightly before flipping it upside down onto a serving plate.
Voilà! You'll find a golden, caramelized pineapple topping with a perfectly moist vanilla
cake underneath.
This Upside Down Pineapple Cake is a fun twist on a classic, with the added warmth of
cinnamon and the sweetness of caramelized pineapples. It’s sure to be a hit with your family
and friends.
